AFTER SCHOOL SUMMIT

ROUNDTABLE/STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

5/10/04

1. Summit Report: A draft report has been given to all committee members.  Suggested revisions include:
   • Highlight the diversity of the committee and of the people who came to the April 14 workshop
   • Expand on the description of the workshop and of the Open Space Technology process
   • Explain the need for after-school programs
   • Clarify the goals of the Summit, and
   • Emphasize the need for preventing delinquency.
   • Barbara Shaw’s power-point presentation may be added as an appendix. 

The report will be an inclusive document that provides background for new people interested in participating.  The revised draft report is attached.  Committee members will suggest changes and additions.  Please forward your comments to Kelley Talbot so they are reflected in the final document.     

2. Press: There was further discussion about how to generate attention around the release of the report.  One possibility is to meet with local reporters over lunch in early June to discuss the findings.  Lena Parsons at ICVP will to discuss media options with Kelley and Cindy. 

3. Issue Meetings: The contacts for each meeting will be asked to take notes and get them to the committee.  Group leaders may be invited to future committee meetings. 

4. Next Meeting: June 7^th, 8:30 a.m. Mundelein Police Department.
