Discussion:

First Event– A stakeholders breakfast

Keynote speaker – Jesse White has confirmed for February 23, 2004.

Location – Ivanhoe Country Club

Time – 8:30 am to 10:30 am

Panel – Chief Ray Rose, Mike Waller, Roycealee Wood, a youth representative (YWCA)

Hal Coxen - facilitate panel discussion

Model programs – Have representatives discuss their programs that span age groups beyond middle school

MC – Representative Kathy Ryg and Chief Ray Rose

Action Items:

· Kathy will work with Jesse White on topics for his presentation

· Debra will work with Bruce to get quotes for menu

· JoAnn, Debra and Laurel will coordinate the model program component

· JoAnn will contact Jennifer from the After School Alliance about giving a power point presentation

Second Event – Implementers Event

Utilize the Open Space Technology method. Judy and Laurel discussed the process from the Latino Summit. There needs to be a bit more structure and direction to the sessions.

Have a speaker at beginning of day and at lunch time.

Action:

· Judy will talk to Myrna Torres about facilitating the Open Space process.

· Solicit help from steering committee to assist in planning of Implementers Event.

Budget

We need to establish a budget for the two events.

Action Items:

· Nicasa will write a letter that can be used to solicit funding.

· JoAnn will talk to Debra about financial support from the Northern Illinois Collaboration.

Invitations

Michelle distributed a list she has compiled thus far.

Those included or identified include; Chiefs of Police, Mayors/Village trustees, Judges, state and local elected officials, County Board, Park Districts directors/board trustees, school superintendents/board presidents, libraries/board presidents, faith community (through the Lake County United), United Way, Lake County Partners.

Action Items:

· A “Save the Date” letter will go out from Representative Ryg and Chief Rose encouraging participation. Letter will go out around January 5^th.

· All committee members need to email Michelle with any names and addresses of additional individuals you want included.
